This is Anthony, from the Hydrogen Car Network, where you recently
signed up. We are as shocked as you at rising gas prices and we
want you to have the best information if you are really serious
about installing a hydrogen system onto your car.
As an HCN subscriber, you have access to our Subscriber pages. The
link is at the bottom of every email, but I will also give it to
you now. I encourage you to bookmark the Subscriber page:

If you are like most of our subscribers, you are interested in
saving gas, and you have heard about this "running your car using
water" business, but you don't know much about it. So, I have tried
to explain it as simply as possible on the Subscribers' page, and I
will do the back-of-a-napkin explanation here. The summary is,
there is one good approach for us which I will identify. All of
this information is repeated in more detail on the Subscriber page.
Starting off: there are two main approaches to running a car on
hydrogen. The first is the hydrogen "fuel cell". A fuel cell is
like a big battery that runs on hydrogen. You have to buy the
hydrogen from a filling station like you buy gasoline, and then
your fuel cell drives an electric motor in your car. This is the
approach that all the big auto companies are working on, and the
stations that sell the hydrogen form the "hydrogen highway" that
you've maybe heard about. The Hydrogen Fuel Cell is NOT the
approach that we are talking about when we talk about converting
our own car to run on water now..
The second approach is to create hydrogen from water in a little
jar with two electrodes inside it - such a device is easily
manufactured in your garage or even the kitchen table. This is the
approach that is talked about for individuals like us. The
question is, what do you do with that hydrogen? Can it completely
replace the gasoline in your car?
The answer is, probably NOT. You'd need a lot of hydrogen to be
generated and by the laws of physics you could probably never
completely create enough hydrogen under the hood of your car to run
the car. There are people who have claimed to have made such a
system but we have never seen it - at least not one that you or I
could build and use in our own car.
However, it IS possible to make small amounts of hydrogen and then
inject this into the airflow of a regular car, to enhance gas
mileage. Injecting HHO in this manner supposedly does a couple of
things - it makes the air/gas mixture "leaner", and it also
increases the effective octane rating of the fuel.
There are lots of people who are manufacturing simple systems like
this and testing them out in their cars. For a whole page load of
pictures and videos taken by me (Anthony) of such devices, see this
page:

Now, note a couple of things. First, these systems will not work
correctly in your car on their own, as your car's computer will
adjust the settings after a couple of days driving to set things
back to where they were before you installed the device. So you
also need a small electronic device called the "Map Sensor
Enhancer" to trick your car's computer into accepting the added
hydrogen. As you can see, you need to do some research into this
area. All these systems are painfully simple as long as you know
what you are doing.
Anyway, read and see what others are doing and maybe you will be
motivated to take some action yourself.
